This story comes to us from Omaha, Nebraska, where we found this old table in the "free" bin at a garage sale. 
The table appears to have been used for craft or model making - the top was covered in an oily, black gunk - a small spots on the top is damaged through the outer layer.  There is still some hardened mud on the top, but for the most part it sits at the St. Joe Antique and Gift Mall in Rapid City, South Dakota.
A section of the metal surround is also dented.
