and her cats, Borden the-destroyer-of-worlds and Cry Bebe. Born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan - northeast of Detroit along Lake St. Clair - Caren moved to Sanibel Island, Florida nearly 30 years ago. There she worked as a newspaper reporter, editor, editorial director, assistant theater producer, television anchor and writer even after opening her own advertising agency in 1983.

Following the death of her husband, who seriously collected art pottery,  Caren traded the large island home for a cabin in the Black Hills and a winter spot on Florida's Gulfcoast.

Today Caren is selling antiques and collectibles, fixing computers, teaching software classes, improving her pool game and traveling whenever the opportunity and the money presents itself.

Winters she scours sales and estates in the south. In the summer, she rummages through barns in the northern Midwest.
